Inspirational Podcasts to Support Your Sobriety

One key component of Ivory Plains’ addiction treatment services is to encourage you to find various tools that reinforce your healthy choices. Podcasts offer a unique and accessible form of support, whether you’re newly sober, in long-term recovery, or simply exploring a life without alcohol or drugs. They also provide a sense of community and connection, which can be invaluable on a journey that often feels isolating. Let’s review some of the other benefits and list a few selections you might enjoy.

Inspirational Podcasts to Support Your Sobriety and Life

Podcast recording platform Riverside states that “74 percent of podcast listeners tune in to learn new things, while others listen regularly for entertainment, to keep up to date, to relax, and for inspiration.” The free, on-demand nature of podcasts means you can turn to them anytime for a dose of motivation, different perspectives, or reassurance, making them a powerful and flexible tool for building a supportive environment. Tune in to the following and see what you think.

Addicted Mind Podcast

Therapist Duane Osterlind suffered through addiction and great personal tragedy only to discover his purpose: “I want people to find reliable information about addiction treatment and research. I want people to know that it gets better with the right support and knowledge.” The show features different guests with expansive views on addiction and recovery.

Busy Living Sober

Elizabeth “Bizzy” Chance says she was 13 when she had her first drink. It was 1981. Then, “on August 14, 2006, I asked for help, strangers helped me and God gave me the willingness to listen and take direction and the hope that life could be, and would get, better.” Her podcasts address many personal subjects as well as the wide net addiction casts over individuals, their families, and friends.

Hidden Brain

Produced by NPR, this podcast “explores the unconscious patterns that drive human behavior and questions that lie at the heart of our complex and changing world.” From why you should watch superhero movies to understanding various types of emotion, you’ll learn a lot more about how you think.

British broadcaster Day sets a completely different but award-winning tone with this show, which is “a celebration of all of the things that haven’t gone right. The One You Feed

Native Americans have a legend about the two wolves inside of us: one is filled with negative emotions and acts, and the other radiates all aspects of good. Which one you feed is up to you. Eric Zimmer took this parable and expanded it into a podcast to explore “practical wisdom for a better life.”

That’s why our podcasts help people improve their lives through data-driven decision-making and a personalized approach to behavior change.” Although the show is no longer in production, there’s an extensive archive.

Unlocking Us

Now more than 25 years sober, notable researcher, speaker, and author Brené Brown continues to inspire with this podcast featuring numerous change-makers discussing various topics in “conversations that unlock the deeply human part of who we are, so that we can live, love, parent, and lead with a whole heart.”
